I recently saw someone post this recipe in a blog and I was so tempted to try it out. Today, being my birthday I wanted to prepare something super quick for dessert and so I gave it a try… and it was sooper yummy. It is super quick to make, about 70 seconds in the microwave and very easy to make too. So, if you have a microwave then definitely try this out… an instant cake ready in less than 2 minutes.

Serves: 1

Preparation time: under 2 mins

Ingredients:

All-purpose flour/maida – ¼ cup

Sugar – 2-3 tbsp (depending on your liking)

Cocoa powder, unsweetened – 2 tbsp

Baking powder – ½ tsp

Salt – 1/8 tsp

Vanilla essence – ¼ tsp, optional

Biscuit crumbs – 1 biscuit, optional

Milk – ¼ cup

Oil – 1 tbsp

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder and salt so that there are no lumps.
  2. Then add the milk, vanilla essence and oil and whisk well.
  3. Take a microwave-safe mug/cup and dust it with little cocoa powder. Add half the amount of the cake batter, top it with biscuit crumbs and add the remaining batter. Take a long mug, or else the batter will spill out.
  4. Add some cocoa powder on top if desired.
  5. Microwave it for about 60-80 seconds (depending on your microwave and its power etc) or until the cake is just finished (make sure not to burn it, it burns super quickly).
  6. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top and serve it as it is!!IMG_2698

Please help me out with the temperature to set for baking it in 1-2 minutes, and also the mode, micro or Convection?

    •

Hi, keep it in the microwave mode at high temperature… keep an eye on the cake as it starts rising after about 10 seconds, so keep checking it until about 60-70 seconds

    •

You should not bake it, you should just microwave it.

  3.

  5.

    Hi,

Your cake is so tempting. You made me crave for it. I’ll have to make it now

  6.

Can I make it in a bowl: for eg Correlle medium bowl. Not sure if I have a Long cup that is MW safe

    •

Yes, you can make it in a bowl, but the mixture will definitely rise, so I recommend you to make half the quantities mentioned in the recipe. So, try to use 2-3 bowls and add little quantity in each one.

  7.

Can i Substitute or with out cocoa powder

    •

You can use either dark chocolate/chocolate- melted, or nutella/any chocolate spreads or instant coffee (for coffee powder).

  8.

  9.

If I hav to bake it in the OTG then ?

Hi Chaya, you can bake it at 180C for about 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, but I recommend using a microwave for this recipe as it gets done super quickly and it is hassle-free
