2 minute MUG CAKE in microwave – eggless

I recently saw someone post this recipe in a blog and I was so tempted to try it out. Today, being my birthday I wanted to prepare something super quick for dessert and so I gave it a try… and it was sooper yummy. It is super quick to make, about 70 seconds in the microwave and very easy to make too. So, if you have a microwave then definitely try this out… an instant cake ready in less than 2 minutes.

Procedure:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder and salt so that there are no lumps.
  2. Then add the milk, vanilla essence and oil and whisk well.
  3. Take a microwave-safe mug/cup and dust it with little cocoa powder. Add half the amount of the cake batter, top it with biscuit crumbs and add the remaining batter. Take a long mug, or else the batter will spill out.
  4. Add some cocoa powder on top if desired.
  5. Microwave it for about 60-80 seconds (depending on your microwave and its power etc) or until the cake is just finished (make sure not to burn it, it burns super quickly).
  6. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top and serve it as it is!!IMG_2698

    • Your messages are always very encouraging manasa, thank you as always 🙂 🙂 I will keep trying my best !!

  2. Please help me out with the temperature to set for baking it in 1-2 minutes, and also the mode, micro or Convection?

    • Hi, keep it in the microwave mode at high temperature… keep an eye on the cake as it starts rising after about 10 seconds, so keep checking it until about 60-70 seconds

    • Yes, you can make it in a bowl, but the mixture will definitely rise, so I recommend you to make half the quantities mentioned in the recipe. So, try to use 2-3 bowls and add little quantity in each one.

    • You can use either dark chocolate/chocolate- melted, or nutella/any chocolate spreads or instant coffee (for coffee powder).

    • Hi Chaya, you can bake it at 180C for about 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, but I recommend using a microwave for this recipe as it gets done super quickly and it is hassle-free
