Soya Uttappam (Savory Pancake with Soy Chunks) – Quick and Instant recipe

I have been craving a lot for South Indian food these days, My cravings have been so spontaneous that I am searching a lot for instant recipes. Today I wanted to have uttappam and I did not make any preparation for it the previous night πŸ™ So, I thought of making it with bread, but there was no bread at home. Then I realised I had soy chunks, they add some protein and energy too, so it makes for a perfect breakfast. So here is my quick and easy soya uttappam recipe.

Makes: 6 Uttappams

Preparation time: 30 mins

Ingredients

Soy Chunks – 1 cup (soaked in water for 10minutes)

Semolina/sooji/upma ravva – Β½ cup

Yogurt/curd/buttermilk – 1 cup

Rice flour – ΒΌ cup

Water – 1 cup (appx.)

Salt – to taste

Oil – 1 tbsp

Cucumber – ΒΌ cup (grated)

Carrot – ΒΌ cup (grated)

Onion – ΒΌ cup (finely chopped)

Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)

Green chili – 2 (very finely chopped)

Procedure:

  1. Blend together the soy chunks, semolina, rice flour, curd and salt in a mixer grinder till you get a smooth batter. Add water as required to get the desired consistency.
  2. Pour the batter into a bowl and add the cucumber, carrot, onion, coriander leaves and green chili. Combine well.
  3. Heat a tawa and add oil to it. Pour the batter to make uttappam of your desired size.
  4. Roast in on both sides, remove to a serving plate and enjoy it with your favorite chutney or sambar!!

  1. Ok. Thanks. I will take big ones next time. Btw I Cudnt make dosa so I made pakoras n they were delicious.
