Serves: 2 | Cooking time: 10 mins |
Ingredients:
Bread slices – 4 or 5
Sugar – 1/4 cup
Water – 1/2 cup
Cashew nuts, cut into tiny bits, optional – 1 tbsp
Oil/butter – 1 tablespoon
Procedure:
- Take the bread slices, remove the brown edges and cut them into small squares.
- Melt the butter in a frying pan and fry these bread pieces on a low flame till they turn slightly golden brown.
- Remove them from stove and keep them aside.
- Then, heat a saucepan and add the sugar and water to it.
- Let it boil till the sugar is completely dissolved and we get a thin syrup like consistency. Make sure that the syrup is not too thick since the bread has to absorb this solution and hence a thin one would be perfect.
- Switch off the heat and pour this syrup over the fried bread pieces. Mix the bread pieces and coat them well with the syrup.
- Finally, garnish with cashew nuts and enjoy !!
Note: It is important to slightly fry the bread pieces, since this will retain the shape of the bread. If we do not fry the bread, it will absorb a lot of syrup and will be mashed up.
