Monsoon arrived…. weather is chilly….. and my craving for a hot dessert made me do this warm chocolate delicacy π This is a chocolate filled spring roll, hence the name Chocling rolls π I don’t want to bore you after tempting you all with chocolate, so here is the recipe.
Serves:Β 2 |
Baking time: 15 mins Preparation time: 15 mins |
Ingredients:
Spring roll/pastry sheets – 4 (You need plain flour.Β check recipe here)
Unsweetened Cocoa powder β 1 tbsp
Cornstarch/corn flour β 3 tbsp
Warm milk β 3/4 cup
Sugar β ΒΌ cup
Vanilla extract β 3 or 4 drops
Cinnamon sugar β to garnish (optional)
Grated white chocolate β to garnish (optional)
Oil β 2 tbsp (I used oil spray)
Procedure:
- Mix together the cocoa powder and cornstarch in a small bowl.
- Add ΒΌ cup of milk to this and mix well such that no lumps are left. Even if there are few lumps it is fine.
- Heat remaining milk in a low flame. Add the sugar and vanilla extract and bring it to a boil by stirring continuously.
- Once it comes to a boil, reduce the flame to simmer and add the cocoa and milk solution through a strainer. Keep stirring it until it becomes a thick paste. This might take about a minute.
- Remove from heat. Your chocolate pudding is ready.
- Take a spring roll sheet, spray some oil over it and add a tbsp of chocolate pudding about 1/3rd from one end.
- Roll it and seal the edges with all purpose flour-water paste.
- Prepare all the rolls in this manner and place them on a greased baking tray. Brush the rolls with some oil.
- Bake them in a pre-heated oven at 220Β°C for about 15 minutes till the edges brown and rolls are crispy.
- Remove from oven. Drizzle some of the chocolate pudding over them and garnish with grated white chocolate and cinnamon sugar powder.
Note:
- You may use butter instead of oil.
- You may serve these hot or cold.
